As it is one of the more popular SUVs in the area, Pittsburgh, Wexford, and Butler drivers have been asking: When is the 2019 Ford Edge being released?
Well, it won’t be long now. The 2019 Edge release date is slated for the end of the year, perhaps around the holidays. In the meantime, check out this sneak peek from the Baierl Automotive team. We’ll let you know what you can expect from this model year.
2019 Edge: Updated Safety
The 2019 Ford Edge release date isn’t too far off now, which means that you’ll soon have access to its smarter, updated safety systems.
Ford Co-Pilot360™, a new suite for 2019, is sure to redefine the safety capabilities of the Ford brand. The 2019 Edge will be the first SUV in the lineup to include this suite, which adds driver-assist technologies into the standard package.
Whereas before features such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) were available only with an upgrade, now you’ll have them in the base trim.
All the features in this suite work to predict when accidents will occur using a network of sensors or cameras. They will then either send the driver warnings or act autonomously to prevent a collision.
Ford Edge ST
One of the most exciting additions to the 2019 Edge is a new trim level—the Edge ST. With this, you’ll have a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost® engine. Thanks to its many enhancements, it’s projected to generate 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque on a regular basis.
The Edge ST EcoBoost® engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This transmission option has been finely tuned to ensure smooth shifts. You should have no problem accelerating on a dime. Your transmission won’t hold you back when you do.
Handling should be quite nimble, even during acceleration. The ST trim comes standard with all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension. The former provides added grip on loose or slick road surfaces. Meanwhile, the latter ensures agile handling and smooth, quiet maneuvering.
Ford Edge Interior Technologies
Safety isn’t the only area in which the 2019 Edge receives some new technologies. In the cabin, you’ll have even more infotainment than before.
An available wireless charging pad is a new addition, for example. Set your phone in the bin and it will charge while on the go. You won’t have to worry about unnecessary cords cluttering the front.
Alongside the wireless charge bin, there’s also a rotary gear shift dial. This ergonomically designed shifter can switch into park or reverse with a simple rotation.
Finally, the new Edge offers an available B&O PLAY™ audio system by Harman. With 12 speakers, your listening experience isn’t just loud. It’s immersive, too!
