Best BBQ in PittsburghSmoke, spice, and a bit of fresh meat. While the combination may be simplistic, the flavor is anything but.

Double Wide Grill | Connect on Facebook

Vegan BBQ OptionsWhen one thinks BBQ, one is probably not thinking of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. However, one of the things that makes Double Wide Grill what it is today is exactly this: They prefer to march to the beat of their own drum.

If you’re a traditional meat-eater, order one of their famous combo plates, such as the Git Er’ Dun. This platter includes 1/3rd a rack of ribs, beef brisket, and pulled pork. Plus, you get fresh-cut fries, a garlic pickle, cornbread, and your choice of slaw on the side.

For vegans, there are plenty of additional items, such as the Marinated Tofu Skewers, which are marinated and grilled in house-made Double Wide BBQ sauce.

Pork & Beans | Connect on Facebook

Here in Pittsburgh, we’re a good half-day’s drive from the South. However, the upscale Pork & Beans brings some of that down-home deliciousness to the Steel City.

If you want a meal that’s really going to stick to your ribs, start off with an appetizer, such as their Jalapeno Corn Fritters with n’duja mayo for dipping.

Next, try out a sandwich, such as the Brisket Grilled Cheese. It’s topped with caramelized onions, cheez whiz, American cheese, and, of course, brisket.

Twelve Whiskey BBQ | Connect on Facebook

BBQ and Cocktails in PittsburghSometimes, in order to open up that pit in your stomach, you need a cocktail or two to kick things off. Luckily, Twelve Whiskey BBQ—unsurprisingly, given its name—has one fantastic cocktail menu.

The Adelaide Lemonade—with Smirnoff strawberry vodka, muddled strawberries, and fresh lemonade—is the perfect opener for a mouthwatering main act.

When we say, “main act,” we mean meat. The Yo Momma Sandwich is one of the meatiest we’ve ever seen. It’s piled high with pork, brisket, bacon, whiskey BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar, onions, a fried egg, and mayo. This is all on a brioche bun, by the way. It’s a belly-buster.
