2018 Subaru Impreza Review
Whether you choose a sedan or hatchback body style, the Subaru Impreza offers plenty of space for passengers and storage, while maintaining an easy-to-drive compact size. Standard all-wheel drive secures the Impreza as an excellent choice for families seeking a capable vehicle to handle the daily commute around Pittsburgh, Wexford, and Butler.
Our team at Baierl Automotive has put together this helpful review of the vehicle to help you determine whether it would be a good fit for your unique lifestyle needs.
Performance & Capability
The Subaru Impreza comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that puts out 152 horsepower, and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Impreza earns an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency rating of 28 city/38 highway MPG, which is one of the highest ratings in the compact class.
It’s the only vehicle in the class to even offer all-wheel drive, and not only that, but it comes standard. This feature is indispensable for traversing over rugged terrain or in icy winter weather conditions.
Inside the car, you’ll find seating for five on standard cloth upholstery. Add more luxury and comfort with options such as leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. In the sedan, the front seats have headroom measuring 39.8 inches and legroom of 43.1 inches. Rear-seat passengers have 37.2 inches of headroom and 36.5 inches of legroom. The trunk of the sedan measures 12.3 cubic feet.
When you opt for the hatchback model, measurements are the same, except for rear-seat headroom, which increases to 38 inches. The hatchback does offer a significant increase in cargo capacity over the sedan. With all five seats in use, there’s 20.8 cubic feet of space in the rear of the vehicle. The rear seats can be folded down flat to create a total of 55.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Connectivity & Convenience
The 2018 Impreza comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display with the STARLINK™ infotainment system. Standard features of the system include Bluetooth® for streaming audio from your phone and making hands-free phone calls, as well as even better connectivity using Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™. You’ll also get a standard rearview camera for easy maneuvering in crowded parking lots.
To add even more modern tech features to the vehicle, choose from a long list of available options. Some notable additions include automatic climate control, push-button start, satellite radio, and 8-speaker Harmon Kardon® sound system, and the Subaru EyeSight® safety system.
